Re: Custom Emblems
Awesome; thanks! Does the clip snap into the hole from the outside, or do you push them on the "custom" emblem posts from inside the door? I think I have the correct size clips but I'm not sure whether or not I have to remove the vent window to complete the installation.

Custom Emblems
Question: Has anyone out there re-installed their "Custom" Emblems that go under the vent windows on the doors? I got mine re-chromed and are ready to go, but I've deployed to Afghanistan for a year and have forgotten how they were held in the holes. Really, really, really appreciate any help I can ...

Door Bumpers
Finally figured out a solution to get new door bumpers. I'm finishing up the restoration of my 1968 D-100 and have been looking for new boor bumpers forever, like many other people on here. Here's the solution I came up with: I ordered trunk bumpers for a 66-74 B Body Chrysler from Soffseal: http://...

Rear Leaf Springs
Quick Question: I replaced my rear leaf springs a while back and have noticed that my truck is leaning to the left now. I'm trying to figure out the problem but was wondering something. Does anyone know how high the frame should be from the ground in the back? I'm looking for the distance from the b...

Re: Seat belt mounting holes
Well, what I did was go in through the access points for the cab bolts, those nice rectangular holes on the front of the box under the gas tank. I took the nut-washer combo and duct taped it to a flexible magnet wand. I'm sure that a coat hanger would work too, but you'd have to make sure and curve ...

Re: Seat belt mounting holes
I had a similar situation with my 1968 D-100. The cab was trashed and I had to replace with a 1965. I called up one of the seatbelt manufacturers and got a hold of four backing washers. The nice big, thick ones for providing reinforcement. Then I welded a nut to each of the washers. Then I grinded o...

Alternator Bracket Question
Hey everyone, got a question. I just got an alternator bracket for my slant six and am interested where it came from. It looks like my original, but much heavier construction. The part number is 3671679. I can't find it in my parts book, so it must be from after 1968. Any help would be great!

I've never figured out how and never seen one that is completely straight either. I think it was just how it was designed!

Re: Truck leaning / spring problem
OK, that was the problem. Got the truck up on jack stands this weekend and loosened all the bolts on the springs. When I lowered it back down and got all the weight on the springs(to include the body this time), the truck sat level. Then I just tightened the spring bolts back up to torque specs. So,...

Re: Truck leaning / spring problem
They are new springs. Here's what happened; been restoring my truck over the last ten years. I stripped it all the way down to the frame, and I remember that it was at that point that I replaced the springs with new ones. Then the frame sat for a while during my time in college and the army. Over th...

Truck leaning / spring problem
Quick question: I replaced the leaf springs on my 1968 D-100 when I had it torn down to just the frame. Now that I have the body all back together, I noticed that the truck is leaning to the driver's side. I took a tape measure to it and sure enough, the driver's side is approx. 1 3/4" closer to the...

Re: Brake Pedal Return Spring
I've taken a look at a few 1968 sweptlines and it appears that prior to 1968 the pedal had a slot for a spring; 1968 forward no slot, no spring. In 1968 some trucks had the spring, others didn't. However, I figured out what the problem was with mine. The brake light switch that I got from the parts ...

How to install door locks
Thanks to everyone for all the help getting my door locks to work. As promised, I will share what I learned. 1. The clip that hold the connecting rod to the door latch must be tight. The clip has a tendency to loosen up over time. Take the clip off the door latch and bend it back tight so that it ha...

Re: The Americans
I would agree with the last statement, but I think everyone is trying to say they are sick of illegal immigrants, not legal ones. Everyone in our country has immigrants in their ancestry. We're sick of accomodating criminals who come to our country illegally, expect benefits without paying taxes, ex...

Re: Battery won't hold charge
I'd get your battery tested too. It's a very simple test and a good way to rule out a potential problem. Also, have you changed your battery cables recently?
