Re: High-tech redneck clutch bleeder!

I did make one out of a Weed Sprayer and could use it on my other truck, but never got around to using it on the Dodge. never got an extra cap so I couldn't try it. Worked great, though!

Re: Points Gap

Last night I took tools down to where I parked it over night.....just a few doors down at my friends auto repair place. He was gone for the night. I thought I would check first to see if it would start on it's own instead of pulling the battery. It fired right up!! I was shocked to say the least. It...

Re: Points Gap

No, it was too dark then and I didn't have a flash light with me. Will check it tonight and start there. I have a good battery, but was surprised at how fast it drained trying to start it............

Points Gap

What should the points be set at for the '67 318? The FSM and Owner's Manual both say .14-.19,but that's a pretty significant stretch. I checked mine last night, set them at .16 and before I could get it too far down the highway it died on me and wouldn't restart. I can't be for sure, due to a lot o...

Re: BackFiring.

So, an exhaust leak can cause this? I did notice a very small crack at the area where the heat valve shaft rotates. Could that do it? :thinking

BackFiring.

This is my 1967 D200 with 318 and NP435. I changed the Intake Manifold gasket because I wanted to make sure that the heat cross over was open. It was. I very carefully put it all back together and it ran fine. The next week (last week) I changed the Exhaust Manifolds to what I believe to be original...

Sorry for your loss. It sure looked better to me than the way you describe it. I would have loved to get my hands on those wheels and tires!

Re: Intake Manifold Gasket Choices

Tried the Copper Gasket Sealer last night. I think that will work just fine. I put it all back together and drove it to work today, about 15 miles. No issues. I'm getting a little burned oil smell, but I think that is from when I may have overtightened the valve covers.......

Re: What's This For?

Well, I'm sure the little u is for the heat cross over, but it was the bigger U that is out in the open once the Intake Manifold is on that made me curious.

Intake Manifold Gasket Choices

So, I have two unopened boxes of Intake Gasket Kits here in front of me and I'd like to be able to return one. I took the Intake Manifold off my '67 318 last night and measured the holes. What I have is: 1-7/8" x 7/8". Which kit do I need? Felpro Kit MS90109 1" x 2-3/16" or Felpro Kit MS90041-1 7/8"...

What's This For?

What does this 'upside down U shape' on the heads do for this 318? Is this why I'm getting a lot of exhaust noise while I'm driving? Should it be covered up?
What is the 'U' for that I'm pointing to? Should it be covered up? The intake manifold does not.

P.S. The upper 'U', I know that the lower one is the pass-through for the exhaust.

Re: Torque Specs

I know one of them is galling, that's the squeak I'm hearing. I only drove it across town and back last night so no big damage. I need to figure this out once and for all or......well, I HAVE to have a truck, so.... Let's calm down and count to 10....... :shame

I'm reading from the original factory shop manual. How should I be tightening these items down? This has really got me stumped. :banghead

Torque Specs

That squeak is back. :banghead :banghead :banghead I'm going to look into it tonight. I can only assume that the rocker shaft has gotten loose again. This is the '67 LA318. How tight should I tighten those bolts down? The book says 15# for the rocker shaft bolts and 40# for the valve covers. Seems b...
