Re: Wood bed questions

John, I sold the W100 unfortunately. I really regret selling that truck but life goes on. I’m about halfway done building my D100 and cut it down to a short wheel base from a long.

Wood bed questions

Does anyone have a picture of the bed brace assembly for a short bed ute. I’ve just completed a conversion from long to short bed cutting 18 inches out and I’m having trouble finding any information on the bed brace/ bed support crossmember locations. Pictures would be a tremendous help.

Re: How did you come up with your screen name?

My family has had the long bed use I'm restoring since 86. I spent my whole life in that truck and it's forest service green, ex government truck at one time in its past life. I always called the truck big green when I was a kid and it has an la 318 in it so greenmachine318 was made probably 12 year...

Scare bird thoughts and questions

A few years ago I bought everything required to to the conversion before they offered the machined hub assembly. For those of you that have done the conversion how did you do it without their custom hub. My thought on this was obviously saving money. I looked over the extra parts I have laying aroun...

Re: stroked 318 info wanted.

No problem just trying to help out. I thought about doing the same build and then doing doing the 360 crank and finally decided to just build a decent 318. I'd be glad to share how I built my 318.

Re: stroked 318 info wanted.

The short and sweet answer is no you can't. The long and drawn out version is different. 318 with a 360 crank, 3.58 crank stroke and .030 over pistons makes a 349 or roughly close to it. The problem lies with heads. The stroker needs j heads the 1.88 valve variant. You have to get the 360 crank jour...

Re: 1969 W100 Suspension Travel?

Full drop is a reference to the spring at full drop meaning you have the truck on a lift raised off the ground and the leafs are free of the vehicles weight resting on them. So from what I gather and what I can tell you based on my truck the springs are about 5 inches from the top leaf in the pack t...

Re: 1969 W100 Suspension Travel?

Are you looking for full drop measurements? I believe some time ago I had a spread sheet with number that have you eye to eye shock length and had the number in inches for travel. I'll dig it up tomorrow and get back to you.

Be careful with clear over metal. The chemical process is tricky.

Re: aod tranny to 318 poly engine

also A500 was the baby brother of the 518 and 618 so as the years went on they built them bigger and stronger as well as more electronics. So slick is totally correct and on track track with the 46RE reference.

Re: aod tranny to 318 poly engine

A500 is a 4 speed overdrive light duty, lock or non lock up, but they do have electronic cylinoids

518 has better planets and more clutches, governor presser cylinoid and better planets.

Utiline bed

I took some measurements of my bed sides they measure just over 8ft, classified as a long bed. For the life of me I can't remember the exact breakdown of the bed I had boxed all the bed bolts and labeled them about 6 years ago and now that it's time to start putting it back together all I can rememb...

slick one of my parts trucks had silicone on the same holes and there was rust as well. I wonder if the moisture that got in was trapped by the silicone.

I didn't believe the Nylon ones would be any good thanks for clearing that up. Now between the brass and bearing type whats the general experience you guys have had good or bad with the ease or steering cornering and everything else involved.
