Re: 4 bbl install
Gasket too thick? Is it the all aluminum gasket? How does it fit without the gasket? It wouldn't line up right, with or without the gasket. I tried pictures, but my phone sucks. Basically, one side would line up and allow the bolts to go in, but the other side would be off by about 1/8 -1/4 inch. I...

Has anyone ever had an issue with one of the intake manifolds from Edelbrock not fitting? I ended up going back to stock because the stupid thing wouldn't sit flush

Re: Hot Rod Crew Cab
Not much done on the truck today, still waiting for the rod bearings to show up in the morning. Plus the wife and I both wanted to spend the evening with the kids, who are now in the living room playin XBox. Only did one thing to the truck; During engine mock up I decided I didn't like the height o...

Re: 4 bbl install
I think on most gaskets like fel-pro the metal part gets compressed against the manifold. You do not use any sealant on the gasket. The RTV is used at the corners of the block/head...although many of the smallblock gaskets have gone to a foam rubber seal instead of just a rubber seal like they used...

Re: 4 bbl install
Oklamopar, thank you for the help. One other thing I'm running into, and want to make sure to get it right. Should the raised part of the intake manifold gaskets be up towards the intake, or down towards the block? Also, after loose installing the manifold, I found a tube of rtv in the box from the ...

Re: 4 bbl install
Exactly what vacuum lines do you have to hook up? The PCV goes to the large port on the front of the carb at the base. Your distributor advance should go to a port that is higher up on the carb (not manifold vacuum). What others are there? Do you have handheld vacuum gauge? Useful in tuning the new...

Re: 4 bbl install
Oh, and there are more ports and inlet/outlets on this thing than the factory 2bl. Should I be freaking out, or just go back to bed?

4 bbl install
This should have been easy, or rather, I should have left a running truck alone. But, the 2bl just felt starved out at times, and I allready had the Edelbrock intake manifold and 4bl Carter wanting to be installed. Point being, does anyone have the schematics of what lines go where on this thing? I'...

dodge filled weekend
I was up in the mountains of Colorado this weekend doing some volunteer work at this old church I grew up near. Got talking to this old cat (in his 90's) about my 27 Dodge Brothers sedan. He mentions that he has a 1923 DB that he drove in the 20's. Still sitting on his families homestead at about 90...

Re: electric fuel pump for 318?
The block mounted fuel pumps don't like to pull fuel through the electric pump depending on your fabrication skills you could pull the electric pump and install a straight piece of tube then it should pull fuel from tank. thats exactly what I did. I hollowed out one of the factory pumps (i have spa...

Re: what's it worth
I paid $400 for a 68 camper special with a factory installed 440 (yes, I had receipts from the original owner from 69). It ran pretty damn good, and was fairly straight. Then, I paid $750 for a standard 69 with 318 and 4 spd. Have paid $300 for non runners without titles... Like they've all said, it...
