Re: "W" series question

Yes, 1957 was the first year for the "civilian style" powerwagons.

1957, isn't that when the civilian Power Wagons were also introduced?

Re: "W" series question

I may have misunderstood his original question.
However, as far as a "W" in the vin number, my 58, W200 had a W in it's VIN and that indicated 4x4 back in those days.

Re: "W" series question

All W series trucks are 4x4. All D series trucks are 2 wheel drive. Not counting the flat fender, 1 ton PW's, that W/D designation started in 1957.

Re: under bed fuel tank?

We installed a gas tank under the rear of the bed on my 69, W200. I do not have photos, and have since sold the truck. We used the gas tank out of an 80's model, full size Chevy Blazer. It was very simple to fit it in, and I believe we even used the tank straps from the Blazer. It was a perfect fit,...

Actually, I do think that a rust-free D300 is a very desirable truck. Your price is not out of line on it at all. Sounds like a good deal to me.
Good luck with your sale.

Re: Want to trade Forwardlook '60 PW for '61-'71 SweptlinePW

Well, I have owned several of those Power Giants, and I would be surprised if you could get anywhere near that for the truck. The average price for that truck, as it is described, would be around $1500.00 - $1800.00. Less if it has any serious rot to deal with. It is a shame that they do not bring m...

That truck is located in Michigan and is for sale. It has a diesel in it. Word is, that the body is very rotten. It is a pretty rare truck however.

Re: 16.5 tire blues

There are lots of options available for 16.5 tires. Forget the big chain tire stores. Go to a good independent tire shop where they actually know something about tires. My local tire shop showed me so many different 16.5's ,that it made my head spin. I know he had more than a dozen different sizes a...

Re: Considering this truck ????

Well, it looks like the body is pretty rotten. I think I see rot on the front of the hood. You need to check for rot in the floors, cowl, (both ends), floors, rockers, bed floor, bottom of doors, above front windshield, and both side rain gutters. I bought one a lot better than that for $52.00. Also...

Re: Gas tank relocation

I used the sending uhit that was in the tank already. It did work with the existing Dodge fuel gauge, sort of. When you filled up, gauge would show full. When gauge showed half a tank, you really had about 2 or 3 galons left in the tank. It was not a good thing to let the gauge drop much below half ...

There are probalby 30 or 40 IH scouts/Travelalls, and a few IH pickups ,stored at an old, closed International truck dealership here in town. The owner passed away, but his son likes these old trucks. He buys and sells parts, and does some restoration work from time to time as a hobby. No telling ho...

Not much demand for those. I see them on Ebay a lot, and usually they don't even get a bid. I suggest you list it for $1500.00, and then take whatever offer you get, if you even can get an offfer. Good luck.

Re: 68 D200 wonders when loaded

I thought a little humor would be good for us this evening.
I would suggest you check the tires. If they are fairly old, you could have had a radial belt slip in one, or both front tires. This can show up as a wander, usually when loaded.

Re: 68 D200 wonders when loaded

I wonder What is it "wondering" about, where it's next load will go? Is it a problem, because, due to this wondering, the truck takes it's mind off the trip in progress! sounds like the truck has a mind of it's own since it has the ability to "wonder".

Do not rely on NADA prices. Those are made up from all kinds of inaccurate data. NADA prices are not realistic at all on late model vehicles, and are even worse on older classic, or collectable vehicles. If you looks around on Ebay and other places, you can see what these Sweptlines are really selli...

Re: I Wonder Where This Is?

Those trucks do not belong to John Eickhoff, in Wendall ,Idaho. Just about all of his are ex military and civilian Dodge 4x4's. He does not have a "stash" of "D" series trucks like that.
