Still Sweptlining

Greetings my friends. I'm still around, still Sweptlining. I'm enjoying my new home (Houston), and take the old truck out now and then. Planning a re-paint soon. Don't get in here much anymore, will try to do better. Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and peace and prosperity to you all. Darren (Seabee)

Yes, currently my truck is Omaha Orange on the bottom and flat black upper. Thanks guys. No doubt I've gone completely crazy with this ...

New window sticker for my truck

Ran the Austin half marathon yesterday, put my 13.1 sticker on the truck today :) Had a pretty good time in spite of horribly crowded race conditions, but ah well, it was part of the training on the way to the full marathon in May. http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh53/Seabeeea/Austin%20Half%20Mar...

 I was actually looking pretty seriously at chevy cobalts, but I got the accord for what they were selling for :pale
And it gets better gas mileage. So far getting 31mpg with about even mix of freeway and in town driving.
It was on Mac Haiks chevy lot here in Houston.

Gone to the dark side

Ok, since I've been here in H town my old Frankentruck has turned a lot of heads. But, you must understand, I do need something with a little better gas mileage. And, my dear sweetie's ride is a 94 Z-71... also not reeeeeal friendly at the pump. Soooooooooo I've been lookin on Carmax... etc.. and no...

I've also seen them in different locations. Mine is close to where Jim's is. Funny thing I did notice though is that my radio position was quite a bit higher than what is pictured in Jim's dash.

Re: Racing update

Hi all, I'm back from the Army 10 Miler in D.C. It was a BLAST. I will say though - OUTSTANDING. Not in terms of racing, but in terms of overall experience. We knew going into it that for us it would not be a "race". It's a training run on our way to marathon distance, it was about the trip, the sig...

Houston Swepties

I saw a guy at Lowes (Cypress) earlier this week who pulled up in a pretty sharp Chebby II, he told me the Nifty Fifties club has a get-together every Sat night at the Kroger parking lot on Spring Cypress North of 249. Any Houston area Swepties up for a cruise up there? I'm gonna be in DC this weeke...

Re: Etsweptster Here it is!

LOL That is a lesson I learned from Mopar Engine Modifications and Mopar Chassis Modifications books from Direct Connection more years ago than I care to admit. It is ASTOUNDING how many really good engine/trans/chassis setups are put together without checking for all 4 full open at WOT at the carb!...

Re: A question I was asked today by a teacher.

Outstanding. I have been many places. Both in America and far beyond. I visited the memorials and Arlington in 1976, and have always wanted to return. Tomorrow morning I board a plane to DC to do just that. My soul mate and I will run the Army 10 miler - in support and honor of fallen brethren. We w...

Re: re chroming bumpers

Yes, I think it is EPA regs and associated higher costs of doing business. Similar regs DESTROYED the CAD plating industry. You notice that if you look in the yellow pages there used to be quite a few chrome shops - now you're lucky to find one. Hmmmmm Mexico, yeah that's worth investigating. Even w...

Swepty vs v8 minitruck

Ok, I know... I'm old enough to know better. True, but I just couldn't stand it. Pulled up behind one of those toyota tundra or nissan titan or some such minitruck with the very proud V8 logo on it a couple days ago. I'm closing behind him in the right lane and as we near a stoplight he whips into t...
