SOLVED AND FIXED. The dash shifter uses a switch on the shifter itself (see picture in original post). The white wire gets hot in and the blue wire connects to backup light harness than runs to the rear. When placed in reverse the switch completes the circuit. Works great now. I just did a similar install in mine. Although I had a cut up hole in the front of my dash already, so I cleaned it up and put the deck there. I mounted the same style dual voice coil speaker in the dash grill area, also. A retrosound 6.5” round fits perfect and uses the original mounting location, ...

Hello there, I'm working on a 68 d100 318 with 727 dash mounted shifter. I'm trying to get my backup lights working. I'm making the assumption that the switch mounted to the shifter in the dash IS the back up light switch (pictured with left arrow). It has a purple and white wire going to male spade...
