Re: 1967 Dodge D100 Fuel Gauge
Problem solved. From the top… Gas gauge housing must be grounded to instrument cluster “housing”. 1. Brush “liquid tape” lightly around base of all three poles. 2. Custom cut thin nylon washer into the shape of a square and insert a washer for each pole. 3. Insert gauge into mounting site. Match up ...

Re: Gas gauge wiring for 1967 Dodge D100
The confusing part… The gas gauge has three poles. The installation site in the cluster housing unit for the gas gauge has three holes specifically for the gas gauge to fit into. There is no gasket between the gas gauge and the internal metal mounting surface. Installing the gas gauge this way groun...

1967 Dodge D100 Fuel Gauge
Does the fuel gauge ground when installed into the metal gauge cluster housing?
Or
Does it need to shielded from grounding out when installed into the metal gauge cluster housing?
Thanks
Greg

Re: fuel gauge fixed - studs not touching metal case
I hooked a test light to the wire coming from the fuel tank sending unit. The test light came on so I know the sending unit is grounded. I have to believe that the gauge itself must be grounding out on the metal gauge housing unit that mounts inside the dash.

Re: fuel gauge fixed - studs not touching metal case
I have fried three gauges.
Hook up the 12 volts to the appropriate terminal on the gas gauge and bam… starts smoking !!
I have to wonder if I have it shorted out somewhere.

Re: Fuel gauge voltage regulator repair.
Sure could use some advice. Fried three gas gauges. Following wiring diagram from factory manual. Can’t sort out why I keep burning good gauges up. Has to be a grounding issue. Any chance the gauge could be shorting out once it’s installed back into the metal cluster housing??? Advice welcomed!! Tha...

Gas gauge wiring for 1967 Dodge D100
Greetings
I’ve managed to smoke three gas gauges.
Following shop manual wiring diagram.
Understood there is a voltage limiter in the gas gauge.
Made sure the dash gauge housing was grounded each time.
At a stand still.
Any advice/insight would be appreciated.
Thanks
