Re: Dropped a nut into the steering column
I guess it would be sitting on this seal at the base of the column jacket tube, assuming that seal is still much intact... if it was a smaller nut I wouldn't be as concerned but 3/8" seems just large enough to somehow bind up in there.

Dropped a nut into the steering column
I have pretty bad luck when it comes to this type of thing. Was working on stuff in the cab of my 62 D200 and dropped a 3/8 nut, which - I still cannot believe this - turned sideways and went straight into the hole in the steering column... and disappeared. I can't get my scope in there to see where...

Re: Fuel delivery woes
Thank you swptln, martincom, nutz for your pro advice. I was going to start checking PCV valve, fuel pressure, timing, float valves as recommend. But had already decided on Sunday to pull and clean the gas tank. nuts bolts & chain, Evaporust, etc etc. It was not the worst condition ever, but it defi...

Fuel delivery woes
I have been enjoying my '62 D200, my first Sweptline. A couple weeks ago I idled for too long while talking to a neighbor. Truck died while I was sitting in it, and wouldn't start back up. I left it overnight, the next day it started up fine. Started driving home, engine got up to running temp -- an...

Re: Timing Cover 1962 318 Poly
I think nobody replied because this is a question that has been covered plenty of times. My bad. Here's the "bible" on LA/poly interchangeable parts: https://1962to1965mopar.ornocar.com/poly318_1.html But just to recap for anyone else who finds this in the future: Yes . 318 LA timing cover fits on t...

Timing Cover 1962 318 Poly
I've searched, read old threads, and seen some debate about which timing covers will fit on the 318 A. If my understanding is correct, this Mancini cover, pump, and gasket set: https://www.manciniracing.com/maraticowapu.html ...can be used on my 62 318 Poly A engine. So long as I accept that the tim...

Re: 62 D200 Front cab mount bushings/washers advice
Thanks martincom for the thorough answer. I have a factory service manual and for some reason made the assumption that it was all drivetrain, fuel system, electrical, and wouldn't go into the details of such things. I don't know why I got that idea but clearly I was wrong - color me embarrassed. I n...

62 D200 Front cab mount bushings/washers advice
I am replacing the floor pans in my 62 D200. They are basically gone from below the firewall back to where they "jump up" under the seat. While I have all this easy access I would like to redo the bolts and bushings on the front cab/frame mounts. The old bolts/bushings/washers are a rusted mess and ...

Re: Clutch not engaging, pedal not returning
Sorry for the slow response. It has been busy around our house lately. It was the simple answer: clutch fluid was basically empty (there was a tiny puddle above the exit point of the line). I think a very slow leak has formed around the pump gasket inside the cab. I added fluid and bled at the slave...

Clutch not engaging, pedal not returning
Howdy. I've been driving and enjoying my '62 D200. I used it yesterday to deliver a load of firewood. It sat in the driveway overnight. Today I went to move it - clutch won't engage. I push the pedal, it won't engage and I can't shift, and the pedal won't come back. If I pull it up with my hand it e...

Re: Fuel Tank? Fuel Issue?
67step100, might be worth checking the fuel pump. Only saying because I just had fuel delivery issues in a 62 D200, thought it was bad gas or tank crud, and it ended up the arm of my pump was slowly failing. I was able to drive it but with odd symptoms coming and going - bumpy roads seem to play a p...

Re: 62 D200 idling rough, or not idling at all
I found a timing cover on Ebay that looks like a match, it is cast iron, does it matter?
By the way. Truck is back home, new fuel pump is working good, it seems pretty happy for now.

Re: 62 D200 idling rough, or not idling at all
Mechanic called. It was the fuel pump, the arm broke off and pieces were scattered about. They got it cleaned out and running. Now I'm on the hunt for a timing cover to fix my coolant leak. Not to start a debate, but does anybody have thoughts about some stop-leak? Not worth gumming up the works, OR...

Re: 62 D200 idling rough, or not idling at all
Martincom, we have a gremlin breeding ground nearby, I am sure of it. Bucky, I am sorry to hear about your mechanical fuel pump problems, but I am glad to hear that it's common, I am hoping that's the issue. I would've changed the pump myself but it was parked on the street in town and I couldn't re...

Had that problem on my former '61 shorty, found a replacement switch on Ebay ( used in '50's Desoto's, Dodge) Here is one on Ebay. Re: 62 D200 idling rough, or not idling at all
Update: After draining gas and charging battery, she started back up, but was still having trouble idling. I was taking off the air cleaner again and noticed a hairline crack in the rubber size adapter... pushed on it and it felt apart in my hand! So, that was letting a lot of air in, messing with t...

Re: 62 D200 idling rough, or not idling at all
Drained the gas. Didn't look all that bad, slightly yellow. I did but in 91 before the problems started so it seemed odd that it was yellow. Put in a gallon of ethanol-free canned gas, turned it over - doesn't want to start. Checked battery, down to 12.3 probably because of so many starts the last c...
