Re: The Military is after me!

I would also add this to the mix, do 20 years military, after high school, then 20 years for a state agency, now you are 40 something, then do 20 years in a city job. Then before you are 70, you will have 3 retirement checks with health care paid in full from the state. 20 years military counts as s...

Re: Attaching Sheet Metal to a Hood

You can get an epoxy from Eastwood, 3M, Fusor, etc called Panelbonding Adhesive or Structural Adhesive, I have used it installing rust hole patches (no welding) and 1/4 panels on late models. Works well, and moisture cannot get behind it when it's dry. I saw an article in a mag that they used it to ...

Re: High Build Primer surfacer

:goodpost The only difference in a show vehicle is that 100's of hours are spent on body details and hidden areas that most of us don't think of or care about. There is no magic formula. I have worked on a few, and when it was done, I was glad to be finally rid of it. Never seemed to get paid enough...

Re: High Build Primer surfacer

Glad to help Kent, I started autobody work in 1975, so I have been around. I still do not know it all( I am in college online now). The spray poly has a "working time or pot life' of 2 hours depending on the temp where you spray. I would mix up enough to do 1 or 2 panels at a time. Never ever leave ...

Re: High Build Primer surfacer

I like to use Spies Hecker spray polyester. Mixes with it's own hardener, smells like fiberglass resin when sprayed. Vey good for block sanding panels arrow straight. About 30 to 40 dollars a quart, but some other paint co's have a similar product. You cannot put it on bare metal, or, over etch prim...

Re: 07 Ram 1500ST and OEM tires

I had the same thing with Goodyears way back in 97 with my Dodge Ram. Had one blow out on it's maiden voyage on vacation with 2000 miles on it! Was fortunate to find a Goodyear store where we were at, only to find I had no warranty at all. Came back to Tx on the spare, and swore I would never buy Go...

Re: What to use for Primer

You can use epoxy primer, available at auto paint stores. Mix with hardener and apply with a small tight weave roller. The roller is available at Home Depot, and you can use a small brush for the corners. Epoxy primer is way better than rattle can lacquer.

Re: round holes, strange pegs

I always use an 1/8 drill bit first to drill a pilot hole. Use nice sharp bit, and do not press too hard. Also make sure the drill is 90 degrees to the panel. When it goes thru, keep the drill running and move it up and down once or twice. Should be round and burr free! I always drill all mounting h...

My son sent me a slide show of the 39 Dodge he is working on, and as I was viewing, all at once there was uncensored porn pics in with his. WTF? I was able to delete without problems, but I can't help but think of a kid innocently looking up something, and, here the nasty pics are! I have a filter, ...

89 Front suspension

I am using a front frame clip from an 89 on my 67 ,it has the big bolt pattern, I want to have the smaller bolt pattern. Are the spindles and control arms the same as the earlier small pattern, or do I have to change them? Can I change just the rotors?

Thanks, Panelbeater

Re: Bolt Pattern Question for '86 Dodge Ram 1500

I have a quick question, also.

I am using an 89 front frame clip, are the spindles and arms the same for the older smaller bolt pattern? I want to have the smaller bolt pattern all around. Do I just have to change the rotors? Or spindle and arms?

thanks, Panelbeater

Re: Air Compressor

It is the one way valve that goes into the tank, like Russ said. Remove the line where it goes into the tank and it is there. If it is bad, air pressure stays in the cylinders and locks up because the air did not stay in the tank. It builds up to more than the pressure in the cylinders and stops the...
