Re: 318 Ignition/Start Issue
starter relay.png After putting the truck in neutral. Use a screwdriver to jump the battery wire at the starter relay and the red wire the goes down to the starter solenoid. This will tell you if everything for the starter is good. Check that your starter relay has a good ground to the body. Check ...

Re: 318 Manual to 360 Auto Engine Swap - 77 Dodge D100
Thoughts that come to mind. Floor shifter or factory column and linkage Kick down linkage Trans cooler lines and does your radiator have the trans cooler I think the 3 speed uses the 904 trans output splines, not the 727 Oil pans are different between 318 and 360. Believe you will need to find a truc...

Re: tapered axle
You shouldn't have to replace the housing. Just the axles shafts. However, if there is a car axle about your desired width it would be easier to use it. Not sure how far you could shorten an axle before you run out of splines.

Donor truck would be best. Transmission Fab a cross member The transmission uses a kickdown linkage to the carb. I would think most cars or trucks could be made to work. Or there are aftermarket products. A shifter. Stock or aftermarket A radiator with trans cooler. The trans cooler lines from any v...

Re: No 445
Bigblocktrucks. I was looking at your question and trucks. In 69 dodge moved the transmission mount from the bellhousing to the tail shaft and added a tail extension to do so, making it longer. This will affect your intermediate shaft length. They also went to a mechanical bellhousing and changed th...

Re: No 445
I went out to the shed and measured. The case is 13 inches. The 435 in my truck is 11. The data plate on the truck will say 445 but if you look online under "dodge np 4530" you may find more info. I think the first year was 1970 as a dodge only transmission. I found this in a 70 w100. The 70s trucks...

Re: No 445
69 or 70 would be first year of 445. The case is 2 inches longer than a 435. There may be a blue tag on the right side. Says model 4530. The top right rear cover bolt is in line with the other bolts on that side. On the 435 that bolt sets in a bit.

Granny gear (6.68) transmissions use a 17 tooth input. The 22 toouth is for the close ratio with 4.56 first gear.

Re: Sl6 Bell housing 2235714-1
Is that the hydraulic bell, then a 61 to 68 np420, np435 and np 540 should bolt up. The np out of the heavy trucks thru 78 with the 1 3/8" 10 spline input should probably work as well. Wasn't designed for the 23 spline trans that came out in 69. This summer I would like to try a see if a 23 spline n...

Re: 745 to 435
Has anyone tried a 23 spline in hydro bell. And why wouldn't a 23 disc work with a hydro pressure plate. I was thinking of trying to put a np445 in place of the granny 435. But I may just replace the 360 with a efi 5.7 and find an aluminum bell. If I had a 23 spline clutch, pp and trow out,I might h...

No, I believe the difference is in the tailshaft. Mine is 6 inches from the back of the case to the CL of the yoke. Your is probably 8.

Re: Disc brake sets for the Sweptline W100 and W300 trucks
I'm not sure how the sweepline are built. This is a 58 w100 Dana 44 with the 6x7.25 bolt pattern. Easy to do. I have no machining experience. I bought a 100 year old garbage lathe for $150 off Craigslist. Made a adapter that is held to the hub by the wheel studs. The other side is a 12.5 inch Toyot...

Re: Is this a NP445 truck?
The case of a 445 is a inch longer,(12 7/8") than a 435. Mine and a few that I have seen a blue tag on the top right side. Says model 4530. Also note visually that the rear top cover bolts are at the corner. The 435 sit in from the corner.
My 445 came out of a 70 w100 with a 318.

The picture posted. The left input is 68 and earlier close ratio transmission. The right is 69 and later granny first.
