Re: Drip Rail Trim Removal - '65 D100 Sweptline

As Wildergarden suggested, remove ther windshield. If the glass is still good, cut the weatherstrip apart to reduce tension on the glass.

Replace the drip edge screws with stainless steel.

I sourced nearly all the rubber for a sweptline from Restoration Specilaties.

Re: Fuel delivery woes

The ZDDP suggestion was from Wildergarden. I use Mobil 1 0w-40, which has the required amount of ZDDP. It is pretty reasonable on Amazon, about $27 for a 5 quart jug. If the Carter is 1973 or newer, it maybe lean for your truck. They started leaning mixtures quite a bit for emissions then. The facto...

Re: Fuel delivery woes

Check for vacuum leaks. If you have power brakes, pinch off the hose to the vacuum booster with a pair of needle nose pliers. Is there a change in idle speed? If so, you have a leak. Check the PCV valve in the same manner. With a properly functioning PCV system, the idle speed should drop approximat...

Re: '68 D200 Camper Special WTB Distribution Block

I wonder if a machine shop can help make larger fitting diameters, instead of replacing the lines. Brake lines were typically 3/16 universally before they went metric. The getcha can sometimes be the line nut. Most took a 3/8 wrench, but some master cylinders and I believe safety switches may have ...

Re: '68 D200 Camper Special WTB Distribution Block

Of the proportioning valves on the Summit site, does this one look like a good fit: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/clp-pv-2 Hard to say off the top of my head. If it were me, I'd want to check and see if the port position matched the existing, so you I could avoid making new lines and minimize ...

Re: '68 D200 Camper Special WTB Distribution Block

but I dimly remember lore that the switch must be replaced if it actuates. The Chrysler & GM switches had springs within the safety switch to re-center the actuating piston, Otherwise, they would activate when bleeding the brakes and the brake lamp would remain illuminated. Fords were the problem c...

Re: '68 D200 Camper Special WTB Distribution Block

Drum brakes actually have more stopping power than disc brakes, due to the larger contact area and self-energizing action. The advantage to disc brakes is far less heat fade. As such, on vehicles with discs up front and drums in the rear, the fluid pressure to the rear drums needs to be reduced. Thi...

Re: Small Block Exhaust Manifold Conical Washer

Correct, they are utilized with the exhaust manifold attaching bolts. Yes, there are aftermarket sources for them. There about $3.25ea. I only need two, so the price of the part is not the issue. The $20 shipping & handling is. I thought if someone had a pair they could drop them in an envelope and ...

Re: shee mar 106 wiring diagram for a 1969 d200

I utilized a Shee-Mar 106 in my '71. It's been a couple of years, but I'm fairly confident the Shee-Mar wire colors matched the factory. If you PM your email address, I can send you the truck wiring diagram. The forum does not support pdf as an attachment and when I convert them to photos, the file ...

Re: Flaming River

I'd take a look at a power steering conversion kit, which includes an integral power steering gear, that can be had for that kind of money--maybe even a bit less. My preferred vendor has been black listed from this site, easy blank blank street llc, or CPP (Classic Parts) offers them. I'd avoid the ...

Re: Best exhaust manifolds to use? 318

I'm not sure what your "Magnum" reference is to. I'm going to assume it is to the later model pickups whose model name was Magnum. Chrysler really over used this word, calling big block high performance engines of the late '60 and early '70s "Magnum", as well. I don't believe small blocks ever were,...

Re: Gas Tank Replace or Relocation

There are posts on here about mounting the tank between the rear frame rails. A Mustang seems to fit nicely, can be sourced new, and the fuel gauge sending unit is directly compatible. The down side is it displaces the spare tire carrier. I believe there are some YouTube videos on this conversion, a...

I used one of those Chinese plastic filters once on an engine run stand. After breaking in the cam I could see the element bouncing around inside, never again. Now I use motorcraft fuel injection filters on my mopars.
Would you please share the Motorcraft part number?

OH... and a side note, even though the FILTER fell away from the carb/exit end I could still blow through it and I could also SEE light through the filter, so it was NOT blocking my fuel flow. Re: Fuel filter brand?

I had the same issue last month. That filter had a steel enclosure, but you could hear the filter rattling around inside of it when shaking it. I replaced it with a WIX filter, which is also made in China. I couldn't find a USA filter. WIX typically offers quality filters. So I was hoping their manu...

Re: Cracked Engine Block

Ditto Jeffc57. I had a similar leak with my 318. When a previous owner had the engine rebuilt, they did not paint the engine block. The expansion plug above the starter motor rusted through. A month or so later, another on the right side began to leak, also. I haven't had any issues since and I did ...
