Re: Crewcab, What's it worth?

I seem to remember seeing those type locking hubs on an old 50s era Willys (Jeep) Wagon many years ago. They are DualMatic hubs and were used on many early Jeeps. Good info at http://www.cj3apage.com/index/Tech_Tips ... _to_kn.htm. Great looking truck.

Re: Replace Poly with 360

I picked up a Stromberg WW carb body on ebay for $5 plus shipping so hopefully I can fix my carb. I also found out that the Holley 350/500 CFM 2300 series 2BBL carbs will bolt up and work if you use a Mr Gasket #1937 adapter plate. I know that Mr Gasket shows the adapter is for a Chevy 2BBL manifold...

Re: Lost Titles

That's what they told me at the DMV. They said without the title (or at least a registration in their system showing the seller had applied for a title), the seller is not recognized as the owner of the vehicle. The seller would have to go through the process of obtaining a title before they could l...

Re: Replace Poly with 360

Thanks for the replies. One reason i was considering the 360 is because I had a chance to pick up a 79 Trailduster and I was considering using the 4x4 drivetrain in a future project. But I decided to pass on the Trailduster because it didn't have a title. The price was right but I didn't want to dea...

Re: Lost Titles

They can only do titles for vehicles up to 1974 right now. The truck I was looking at is a 79 Trailduster, so unfortunately they can't help. But thanks for the info.

Replace Poly with 360

I recently found a 360 that I was considering swapping in in place of the original Poly 318 in my truck. The Poly runs OK but the carb is leaking at the inlet needle (Threads are stripped). I ordered a rebuilt carb from Advance Auto online and installed it but it is leaking from the bottom of the fl...

Lost Titles

Anyone ever had any success getting a replacement Texas title for a truck when you don't know who the last registered owner is. I found a couple of possible project trucks around San Antonio but they don't come with titles. Any suggestions or experience with Texas DOT?

I thing Eastwood sells a kit for redoing a gas tank. You can also find advertisements for kits and gas tank repair services in Hemming's Motor News. Having a shop do the tank can be expensive but some offer a lifetime warranty against leaks.

A100 sighting in San Antonio

I saw a red 66 A100 at a local Friday night cruise spot in San Antonio. I spoke to the owner for a couple of minutes and suggested he check out this site and forum. He mentioned he is considering selling the truck in the not to distant future. If I see him again I'll try to get contact information a...

One thing I find strange is that you said the lights get very bright and the ammeter swings toward charging when the problem first happens. The next day the truck cranks normally but won't start. The first problem sounds like a charging system problem. The second sounds like an ignition electrical p...

One area to check closely is the connector for each front turn signal in the engine bay just behind the radiator support. My 66 SWB D100 recently had a problem with the front left signal that was caused by corrosion inside this connector. The signal stopped working and I took the lens off to check t...

You should be able to remove the engine and leave the transmission in the truck. The transmission has an inspection cover on the bottom front of the torque converter housing that must be removed to get to the bolts that attach the flex plate to the torque converter. Make sure you make an alignment m...

The first thing to do is get underneath both trucks and start taking measurements of all the mounting points for the axles, springs, and driveline. I'm not sure about the 78 axle/spring mounts but putting a 66 W200 axle in a D100 is not that difficult. If I was in a similar situation, I would go for...

Used to see a few back when Robin still lived in San Antonio, but almost never see any on the street anymore. The rain has been so bad this summer, I've only taken my 66 D100 out once in the past month.

Old Dodges in the Movies

I happened to catch Metro (Eddie Murphy) on cable the other day. He was driving an early 60's Dodge truck supposedly taken from the police impound lot.

Freeze Plugs

Have you done a compression check on the engine? If the truck has been sitting for more than a year, I would be concerned with problems like stuck rings or valves. I ran across a 318-LA many years ago that ran great but used a quart of oil in under 300 miles because the oil rings were stuck. A coupl...
