NP 435 Troubles

Howdy, over the winter I swapped my "64 poly d~100 420 to a 435. Had it gone thru/ rebuilt by a tranny shop, and the 3~4 shift is awful!! Seems to be sticking in 3rd gear!?! 1st 2nd 4th and reverse seem fine but does not want to come out of third. It slides in ok and when I let out the clutch in 3rd...

NP 420 to 435 '64 D~100

Howdy, just throwing this out there in case it can help someone down the line... I am in the middle of swapping my 420 to a 435 with the parking brake on the trans. I believe the 435 is out of a 1965 D~100 and there are a few differences that I was not expecting. Overall the 435 is roughly 1" longer...

Re: Holley Carb Tuning Help

Howdy, I'm no Holley expert so don't listen to me... I would start with a vacuum gauge and hope to see 17~20 "inches of vacuume". The four corner idle circuits are then adjusted for max vaccume and highest idle RPM. your vaccume @ idle dictates your power valve size... vaccume number divided by 2 is...

Re: NP 435 help

so I got a little more info, the tranny I found is out of a 1 1/2 ton 65 d~400 so I am assuming it has the larger input shaft and uj yokes. Wondering the cutoff for the smaller input shaft did they beef it up @ 1~ton? part number is C-96041

Thx d

Howdy, Just getting my fresh built 318 poly broke in around 500 miles and a problem has developed where my NP 420 manual trans {fresh rebuild} will pop out of 2nd {never use granny 1st } gear on its own. Seems normal under a load {throttle down}, but when you let off the gas it pops out of gear. Any...
