Re: Power Steering Conversion Kits

The supplied pitman works correctly except the cone for the drag link end was too shallow to get the end far enough through to get a cotter pin in the castellated nut. This would be a simple fix with the correct reamer. I triple safety wired the nut instead. Leaving it that way puts higher loads on...

Re: Power Steering Conversion Kits

I don't know who the 'not allowed' LLC is. On my '67 D100 I installed a kit sold by ezsteer on ebay. Overall I am satisfied and I am very happy with the results. There are a few points to note. Not Allowed is the guy you bought your system from. As your truck is a D100, it is totally different than...

The adapter plate holes aligned just right. The adapter plate is flat. While the old housing mounts are in...

Re: New Tires, What Size am I Better off with?

On my '67 D100, the 235/75R15 tires look right to my eye and perform extremely well with no interference with any components. I run the Kumho MT51 on the rear axle as it's the only D rated tire I found in this size and I tend to overload the truck on occasion. I've found the all around traction to b...

Re: Carter BB Accelerator pump question

I'm assuming your 1970 Carter is like the BBDs I have. Both my '67 225 and '85 318 have one on top. "Also, if I'm cruising and "punch" it, it'll give a small cough" This says "lean backfire" to me. Which is most often an accelerator pump issue. Neither of my currently functional BBDs have leather ac...

Re: Does anybody daily sweptys?

A 1967 D100(225/NP435/3.55/235-75R15) is my daily driver. I regularly get 16-17 mpg in the '67 so it gets the nod over the '85 W150(318/NP435/3.23/265-70R16). The '85 only returns 14 mpg under the best of conditions and closer to 12 mpg most often.

Re: Experience with Ramman D100-200 Front Disc Conversion

OK, here's the follow up. I wrote most of this in 2020 after doing the conversion. I looked at what was available, the Scarebird and the Ram Man(RM from here on out). I liked the "kit" aspect of RM and leaned toward that. If I recall correctly, RM's site mentioned some possible delays. This was Sept...

Re: Experience with Ramman D100-200 Front Disc Conversion

I do, and don't, have experience with the RamMan disc conversion. Yes, I intended to say that. This is because I purchased what appeared to be a RamMan conversion off of ebay. It was not. It was a pirated copy, appropriately sold by "PirateJack". I later wished I had waited for the RamMan version bu...

Re: 2 barrel carb replacement

I recently took a chance on a cheap Carter BBD(high top version), new from China, about $90 on ebay. I swapped metering rods when I ran it on a slant six but went back to what came in it when I put it on a 318. The truck runs just as good with it as it did with a nice original. I did take the time t...

Re: Is this a NP445 truck?

The case of a 445 is a inch longer,(12 7/8") than a 435. Mine and a few that I have seen a blue tag on the top right side. Says model 4530... So the 445 and the 4530 are "one and the same"? I am curious as I have a 4530(with SAE #4 clutch housing) that's been sitting in the garage for years now. Th...

Re: New Member - New Truck (D400) Several questions

The lug pattern you have there is known as "5 on 8", as in 5 lugs on 8 inch circle. It can be found on many medium duty trucks of the 50s/60s. While it uses the same lug nut, it is not the same pattern as used on the WM Powerwagons, M37, M43, etc, which is a smaller bolt circle. I had a 1960 IH B140...

Re: What Flywheel

I didn’t pick the bell housing its what the transmission was cast with its all one solid piece. That is NOT a NP445!!! I have 3 of them and they are not cast that way. The bell is separate. PwrWgnDrvr is correct. I have an NP4530 in my garage and it's not cast with bell, the bell is a separate part...

Re: Surging stalling above 30mph

I experienced similar symptoms many years ago with a '55 Pontiac. It would start fine when cold, run good for a little while but then it would start to surge with the occasional lean pop out the carb, eventually forcing me to the side of the road. Let it sit a bit and it would restart fine and do it...

...a hardline loop to the slave ...
My '67 has a hard line from master to slave with a single loop near the slave end. The loop is about 3" diameter and is located right where the firewall tucks back from vertical.
