Re: Pitman Arm Removal - Am I missing a step?

Gotcha. FSM for 1961 just says refer to 1960 for these procedures. Thanks though.

Pitman Arm Removal - Am I missing a step?

I've been trying like crazy to remove the Pitman arm on my '61 D100: I've loosened the bolt enough that there's now actually play between the Pitman arm and the steering box shaft. I've tried two different pullers, and despite the wiggling, I'm not able to pull the arm from the shaft. Is there somet...

Dust Boots For Pittman Arm and Various Steerng Components

Good morning,

The new tie rod ends come with their own dust boots...though since I'm under there, I want to replace the torn and beat up boots.

Are the dust boots generally universal in size...and where, in Canada, would you recommend buying?

Thank you!

Re: Tie Rod - Drivers side LH Thread

I just got a cold sweat...just last night I got the tie rod off of the truck, but I've yet to remove the ends from the rod...really hoping my drivers side isn't a LH thread too. It's a 61 D100.

1961 Differential Pinion Seal

I've searched the forums, and the parts people have searched their reference books, and we can't find a seal for the diff on my 61' D100. It's the good ol' 8 3/4". Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I was fooling with it and no luck yet...may just end up doing the wiring with it still attached.

I was looking on the light knob, but I'll look for the hidden button, too.

1961 Light/Vent/Wiper Knobs

Good day,

Changing some wiring, and wanting to know how to remove the knobs without damaging them. I know about removing the threaded collar holding the module in place, but not how to safely get that black knob removed. Help?

Alternator Exciter Wire on '61

I have a Rebel harness, which I love, and it has a wire marked as alternator exciter.

Is that something compatible with the alternator on my '61? My reading so far has not helped. If the exciter is to be attached, to which terminal on the alternator does it connect?

Weird Horn Contact Roller

In doing the wiring on my '61, I've pulled off the horn contact. The wire was broken, and the contact looks different from every picture I can find on the Google machine.

Am I able to disassemble the contact? How can I get the leftover wire out, and affix the new wiring?

Wiring inside of steering column - '61 D100

Good day,

I'm replacing all of my wiring and wondering if there is a convenient way recommended for removing the current wiring bundle, and then inserting a new bundle.

I really want to change them up, but I don't want to remove the shaft.

Thank you!

Dash Removal For Wiring

In looking to replace all of my wiring, I'm wondering if removing the dash/instrument panel would be advisable. It seems there are a lot of places I can't reach, and it seems easy enough to remove the dash.

Re: New Guy with a 61

Welcome! I have a '61 D100 myself. If you ever get a line on new grilles, let me know!

You're in for a good time. They're a fun truck on which to work, and there are plenty of knowledgeable folks who are happy to share their experience.
