The "splatter with lacquer" does create a texture. The better the application, the better the texture. I know because I did one.... many moons ago and I'm only an amateur.

I don`t if its too late to reply but here goes... I`ve found this helpful for various electrical issues. Disconnect the main harness at the firewall and clean all the connections.

The black textured roof is easily duplicated. Spray a thick mix of lacquer paint on that "splatters". Then spray mixture thinned correctly for the finished coats.
