Re: Cragars

Thought it wouldn't be that big a deal to put these Cragars on but ended up being a little bit of a pain finding and altering the lug nuts.

Any way, 1st pic,... truck before purchase.
2nd pic,...quick fix with Argent paint.
3rd pic,...late this evening.

Re: Cragars

New adapters came in today. That fixed that metric stud issue. Hopefully I don't find a hidden
surprise with the mags. Gonna try to swap the tires on tomorrow.

Cragars

Bought some Cragars last November for my 64 swept. Saw them on Marketplace. They weren't my 1st choice (Rambler), but since they are aged and a little rough they'll match my truck pretty well and look era correct too. Being pretty cheap didn't hurt either. One reason I bought these tho is they have ...

Sorry for not noticing this post earlier. I ended up with the BK127DWS.
Think it's SLR176K for the shifter cain repair kit.

Apologize for leaving it outside for a few days so I could do some work on the skid.

Re: What do you do with your sweptline today?

My trucks usually need something done to them but haven't needed anything serious lately. I drive the 64 D100 1-2 times a week, the 65 A100 about once or twice a month cause it's further back in the shop while the D is just inside the door. Now for a little Off Topic. This yr I brought my 65 long to...

Re: 392 Hemi into w100 powerwagon

In the late 80's I was looking for a D100 Town Panel to put a 392 (1st gen) in. Seen a few around and most didn't like the prices others the colors. A friend told me of a Town Wagon (D100) with a 392. I said GREAT! that would save me a lot of work. Went to look at it and #2 cylinder was hurt and put...

Re: front leaf spring bushings

I went to that site right after I noticed your post and saw the same scenario, then went there just a minute ago and it's like they must've noticed someone poking around before and updated it. Now they have a lot more stuff listed for the A100! Thanks.

A reverse Mandela affect :thinking

front leaf spring bushings

Searched and found very little here at Sweptline. Anyone replace their front spring bushings fairly recent. I looked on Rock Auto's site and they show no listing on the front spring bushings. Everything is listed as "rear's", ...rear to spring, rear forward, rear fixed, rear rearward upper,...but no...

Re: 745 to 435

Weighed the cracked case 435 the other day on two different scales. I left the Ford lid and cane on it and it doesn't have the P-brake. I would guess the P-brake and it's bearing retainer/brake bracket could weigh 10lbs pretty easy. The dirty gold scales may be from the late 60's :thinking .

Re: 745 to 435

Yes it is a little tight. I was sneaking up on it till it fit. Figured I could always open it up to factory size by comparing it to pix like wyota884's pic or the other pic I had saved, but also wasn't sure about the fit of the aftermarket boot yet. I think I left about a 1/4" gap around the square ...

Re: 745 to 435

Can't see the bracket to well in the 1st pic, I took it for the speed-o cable. The cable really wanted to go out and back from the passenger floor pan area. Even tho the cable fitting coming off the trans is pointing up a tad the tunnel housing's sides taper and made the cable turn a tighter radius,...

Re: 745 to 435

A friend of mine who passed away a few yrs ago, and was a Big Hemi guy, used to say "use what ya got". So, since I didn't have the proper P-brake bracket for my existing 745 cable's sleeve to be secured where this 435 needed it to be. The cable/sleeve was a bit short to where it just cleared the shi...

Re: 745 to 435

I think the 435 is 145lbs, which might be without the brake. If I can remember I'll weigh one tomorrow. I also put the 727's and 833's in by hand back in the 70's and 80's. When I went to pick up the trans I forgot my rigging to get a hold of it and just hooked the P-brake bracket with my bed hoist ...

Re: 745 to 435

Another issue I had was the bottom of the 435 trans just barely overlaps the big V grove in the top plate by roughly a 1/4" per side. I figure the V is there for strength tho, or to hold round transmissions. I shouldn't of tried to lift it up like that but I tried it slow and easy and got it m...

Re: 745 to 435

Thanks again. For anyone who chooses to buy one of this type scissor jack be careful by keeping an eye out for the 2 upper wheels that are under the white upper plate/platform. I say that because the wheels don't overlap into their slot/track very much to start with. Mine were only about 1/8" worth ...
