383 to nv4500
Can anybody give me any information on doing this swap? I am wanting to put this in my 70 w200 crewcab. I have the truck currently tore all the way down to bare frame and starting the process of putting it back together and would like a better transmission than the original one in it. I have a set o...

Re: Switching from auto to manual
As far as resale value goes it isn't going to matter, this truck won't be sold until I'm gone! Then my boys can decide what the want to do with it. The 383 is good enough to be rebuilt. This was supposed to be just a simple swap so I could drive my truck. Like I mentioned before I have made enough d...

Re: Switching from auto to manual
Thanks for the help so far, it's greatly appreciated. Now before I move any farther into this swap I would like your opinions. I have made enough mistakes with this venture so far and would like to not make anymore. What I have is a 1978 440, with the 727 for it, out of a motorhome. I am replacing a...

Re: Switching from auto to manual
Would I be better off just sourcing a flywheel for the 440? I believe it is from a late 70's motor home.

Switching from auto to manual
My 70 w200 came originally with a manual transmission and I personally want to keep it that way. I am getting ready to drop a 440 into it that had an automatic with it. My concern is would all the clutch and pressure plate stuff from my 383 bolt up with no issues? Also would I need to source any oth...

Re: Need some options
Well I got word back from the machine shop. Block checked out good. They recommended a 30 over bore, which if it checked out good I was planning on doing it anyways. Now it is time to decide what all I want to do to it. Anybody have any suggestions on cams, heads, and the usual parts to get this mov...

Re: Need some options
It will be going to my oldest when I'm done with it. I'm not sure about annual mileage. I'm not much of a cruiser until fall. Then I stack the miles up between Oct through January.

Re: Need some options
Mostly after everyday driver. I know the 383 in this truck won't get good gas mileage. Being a crewcab with pierce utility bed on it doesn't help. But I want something that I can jump in and go wherever I want and be able to get out of the way when needs be. Guess I should of explained better sorry.

Re: Need some options
Planning on rebuild as long as block gets good report from machine shop. I was just wondering if it's not what kind of options would you guys recommend. I've thought hemi, diesel (which I know nothing about) or trying to source another big block.

Need some options
Well I pulled my valley pan gasket and got a not so good surprise. Found water and oil mix! Now before you all start thinking I'm not taking care of my truck, I'll let you all know the info. I've been slowly pecking away at rebuilding brakes, installing fuel system, deciphering the electrical and ge...

Help with headers
I've got a cracked passenger exhaust manifold so figured now as good a time as any. Anybody running headers on 383 that still has the original winch and with power assist steering( I think that's what it's called). Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Identifying carb?
Is there a way to i.d. My carb besides the tag on air horn? My tag is missing and I am wanting to get a replacement for it. It's 383 manual 2bbl w200 crewcab. Originally from Georgia. Any help or suggestions on which replacement to get for it. Want to stay with 2bbl for now. Thanks
