Re: Clutch fork rattle on 71’
Well, i havent had any issue with the throwout bearing that i am aware of. I drive the truck a small distance about once a week. Might put 10-20 miles on a week and it has been operating fine as far as i can tell. The clutch fork rests up against the throwout bearing, correct?

Clutch fork rattle on 71’
I am having a small rattle thats coming from the clutch fork. If i put a little bit of pressure on the clutch fork where the rod meets the fork, the rattle is gone. Before i risk tearing a clutch fork boot that has no issues, can the clutch fork be tightened?? What might be causing this issue? Graci...

Re: 318 rear main seal replacement
Glad you got the old seal out! Any tips? I will be doing this when it warms up around here is CO.[/quote] Advice.. well, it was surprisingly easy to get the rear main seal out, in my case. I didnt have to push very hard and it started coming out on the other side of the crank. I would suggest gettin...

Re: 318 rear main seal replacement
Got the pegs through the holes after heating up the seals in really hot water and then pulling the ends through with a pair of pliers. Much to my surprise, the rubber seals were pretty tough and stretched like crazy. Still dont like the four piece design on the 318 oil pan gaskets. No one piece gask...

Re: 318 rear main seal replacement
I noticed that the lil pegs were different sizes. Its possible that theyre a lil too large for the holes in my pan. I debated snipping them off but thought id try looking for a better gasket before i go through with it. Im pretty sure id have to alter them in some way if i were gonna get them to fit...

Re: 318 rear main seal replacement
Well, after a bout of holidays and cold weather, i finally got around to doing some work on the rear main. I was able to get the rear main out and replaced, the new pump installed, all the old sealant scraped off and the pan nice and clean. Opened the box for the fel pro oil pan gasket then realized...

Re: 318 rear main seal replacement
Yea, i havent had tha jackstands around since ding some work on a buddys jeep. Thought it looked doable without jacking up the front. I had some free time wanted to get the ball rolling. Was only going to drain and take the pan bolts out today. Wanna let oil drip as much as possible befor i remove p...

Re: 318 rear main seal replacement
Wrastlin the old tar pit tub from the under the truck.. looks like the only way to remove the pan without lifting the motor, im gonna need to remove the oil pump first. Seems as though, the pick up tube gets in the way of getting the deep part of the pan over the axle i beam. There was only one bolt...

Re: 318 rear main seal replacement
Was hoping they stopped using this "rope material", that i was reading about, by 71'??
Does the oil pan clear without exhaust removal? I was under there the other day, doing a mass clean up of the old oil build up and the pan looked to have plenty of clearance.

318 rear main seal replacement
Im about to gather the parts necessary to change my rear main seal, oil pan gasket and oil pump. Was curious if i can change the rear main seal without removing the transmission? Ive seen write-ups for this job on other 318s and it was possible. I can not fit a engine hoist in my garage at the time ...

Re: Dodge Trucks in the movies and TVs
Just got back from the movies... looks like we have a 69-71' sweptline in Justice League. I think its Louis Lanes mother thats driving it. Has anyone else seen this? BTW, this is my first post! Havent set aside the time to give a proper introduction. My apology
