Re: Lifter tap on cold start up
Some of the 318's I have seen have a remote filter location; does yours have this or is it still on the side of the engine?

Oh, one more point: rear axle is the RA36, non-LSD, with the 741 shaft.

Re: 66 D100 with a 500 Caddy motor?
The OP is in SOUTH AFRICA! Different mindset and parts availability there! :salut Exactly PwrWgnDrvr; the local price of a 383, "guaranteed rebuildable" is about +-USD3000, as an indication, incl. gearbox. Slightly different situation here. I would give a kidney and my left nut for the options you ...

66 D100 with a 500 Caddy motor?
Hi all Having gotten my D100 up & running and keeping the rusted farm truck patina on her, I'm toying with the idea of lowering a 500 Caddy motor in it. For no particular purpose other than a nice, Sunday cruiser that can idle around town and sound like sin. Anybody done this before or have some adv...

Re: Tie Rod Help PLEASE!
As an aside... Due to the severe lack of spareparts in my neck of the woods, I found that the old Land Rover Defender outer tie rods works as well with some minor mods to the centre link.

Re: 1968 D100 Stock Ride Height with 318
My D100 was noticeably lower on the passenger side (SA driver side) after I lowered it. Taking the spring packs apart I noticed that there was a 1/2 inch plate on the passenger side between the axle and shortest spring; put this back and it straightened right up. Maybe do the same?

Re: New member model 85 heater question
I used 1018 cr steel round bar and machined it at work in an old Bridgeport with a dividing head. The latch assembly is just tacked together for now because I wasn't sure it would work haha. Seems to work fine after I reversed previous adjustments to the door. Hine63, any chance that you can supply...

Re: New member from South Africa
Thanks all!! Jim: will do! Yeah, I'll start on the VIN plate soon; lotsa good info there. Still need to register as well. Slant Six: the local F100's and C10's all had i6's, so my guess is that, to compete on the local market with a similar offering', the 'other' brands went with a similar capacity ...

New member from South Africa
Hi all Thought I'd introduce myself before I start asking away; it's plain manners, right? Name's Theunis and I am from Johannesburg, South Africa: yep that's right, these beauties made their way to SA as well!!! :Thumbsup As far as I can see they were imported CKD and assembled in Durban with some ...
