'66 D100 Bucket seats?

I just picked up a short D100 with bucket seats--the seller tells me they are stock original. I've never seen these before, they are black vinyl, and have the same three star logo as on the sides of the cab behind the doors. The sides and bottom of the seats have chrome frames. Ring any bells? I'm a...

Re: 63 W200 NV4500 swap

It's the NP420, and I always like it better when I know it's not broken! (Yes the data plate confirms and so does the magnet...) When I got the truck I assumed it was just a non-synchro 2nd but the guy at the trans shop said it was the 435; and that it must have a wasted synchro--that agitated me bu...

Re: 1971 D200 Longbed Camper Special

I have a '71 W200 that is gold from the factory. Under the gold, is a similar color tonally that was the under the metallic gold color--and it looks a lot like your truck. What's (color) under the hood?
I like your wheels fine.

Re: 63 W200 NV4500 swap

UPDATE: powerwagon54 has kindly explained to me that I actually have an NP420, and there is not supposed to be a synchro in second! This explains why the trans works so well, but is missing that feature. Glad I signed up for the forum and I'm getting educated! I will reevaluate my position, and I am...

Re: 63 W200 NV4500 swap

I did a bunch of research and I have arrived at a conclusion: Rebuild My NP435. It has a great reputation and I was uninformed--I didn't even know that I was supposed to have a synchro into second! and that's really what I need--a functioning synchro in 2nd gear, and an otherwise intact 1963 Power W...

Re: 63 W200 NV4500 swap

Good question: Is the 360 bell shorter than the poly 318 bell?
and
is your 383 positioned with the rear of the engine in the same place as the stock 318? (relative to the Np201)
Thanks

Re: Power Wagon Fuel Economy

Currently using late Dodge 3/4 ton 8x17" wheels with E load range tires that are about 31.5" Offset not right but I can back it off a taste to not rub--what the heck new tires and I had them already The radar seems right on for speed, but I'm not a scientist like my dad. The truck came with 33s the ...

Re: 63 W200 NV4500 swap

The 62 to 66 poly 318 had a very similar bolt pattern to the later LA engines, with "a one bolt difference" that can be fussed together. The starter is at 5 o"clock, and I would need a new one from the same bell series to fit the flywheel, as well the clutch neesd to be from 96 and newer 360. I am t...

Re: 63 W200 NV4500 swap

Clutch linkage? I'm missing something. Is it not hydraulic? I don't know what I need a clutch pedal for if I already have a hydraulic clutch; that might have been a red herring... Maybe I'm missing something. The NV4500 come with external slave cylinder I'm thinking I can't go with the NV4500 in with...

63 W200 NV4500 swap

I've got the 318, 4 speed -- bone stock as far as I know. I'm ordering up my NV4500 with the GM 2wd tail housing so I can fit the stock T case (Rockler?). Planning to use the 360 bell, 10 spline 1 1/8th hub, 11" clutch and fly from the 96 360. Also getting the starter for the 360, release fork, and ...

Re: Power Wagon Fuel Economy

Hmmm, I'm new, and maybe I'm doing something wrong. I have W200 (original 62000 miles) with 318 , stock 4 speed, don't know my gears, long tri-y headers from Stan's (Washington) new dual exhaust, stock 2 barrel, vintage Archer CDI. consistently getting 13-14mpg. (just bought NV4500 with a 96 360 bel...
