Re: Oil Filter/Adapter Help - '66 D200

I have the adaptor if you need one. Thanks for the response. When I bought the truck a couple months ago, I had the oil changed at a local shop and ended up with a big oil leak problem. The shop ended up having to order and put on some type of gasket. What I thought was going to be a quick oil chan...

Oil Filter/Adapter Help - '66 D200

I need a little advice. I know this topic is really redundant but most of the threads I've found are quite a few years old and I haven't found an answer to my question. Does my 318 poly need an adapter to run a regular spin-on oil filter? If so, where can I get one? (I thought I saw a post for one o...

Re: Exhaust Leak Coming Into The Cab

Many possibilities. Usually involves several, incl carb, adjustments, timing, misfiring cyls, burned valves, eroded seats. If the engine is original and never had hardened valve seats installed, unleaded gas destroys the original seats. It's the original engine with 79k miles. It runs smooth, no st...

Re: Exhaust Leak Coming Into The Cab

Unburned fuel in your exh pipe and muffler from running rich. Sat just the right amount of time to evaporate to a perfect air/fuel ratio. One plug fired when u turned the key, exh valve was slightly open and it went off like a bomb. Great timing and rare alignment of all the perfect parameters and ...

Re: Exhaust Leak Coming Into The Cab

OK, 1st you got exhaust smell (in cab), then muffler explodes?? Sounds like something was clogged downstream. Who did this exhaust work? That seems to be when the smell began based on what I've read. Bucky When I bought the truck, the exhaust in the cab was much worse. The exhaust pipe and muffler ...

Re: Exhaust Leak Coming Into The Cab

Well since my original post, things took a turn for the worse and I now have a bigger problem than the manifold leak. Monday morning I got in the truck, turned the key and KA-BOOM!!!!!!! My brand new muffler exploded like a cannon and peeled apart like a banana. Besides scaring the living crap out o...

Re: Exhaust Leak Coming Into The Cab

Have you tried running the engine at night in complete darkness? A leak at/near manifold could show flame. Bucky I tried that last night also. I can't see or hear anything but man, I sure can smell it! It's gotta have the windows down and wind wings open bad. pwadventurer mentioned to look for blac...

Re: Exhaust Leak Coming Into The Cab

Hold a thick rag on the tail pipe until pressure builds up, You will hear where it coming from or as GMAN said, should be able to see the black soot. Might need a partner to pinpoint location. My wife and I actually tried that last night. I couldn't hear a thing. Too many years playing loud guitars...

Exhaust Leak Coming Into The Cab

Hey all! I recently had my exhaust redone but I'm still getting fumes in the cab. I suspect it's coming from the exhaust manifold or if I'm really lucky, maybe it's just the manifold gaskets? Can someone advise me on how to check for leaks? I have a '66 D200 with a 318 and 79k original miles. Also, ...

Hey Jim,

This is a really old thread but I'm planning to replace the Drag Link on my truck in the morning.
If you happen to get this, can you tell me if the torque rate is the same on my '66 D200?

Thanks in advance,
Jimmy

'66 D200- Vented Fuel Cap or Vented Tank

I've seen a couple posts about this on the forum but this is my first old truck and so I'm trying to clarify. When I bought my truck, it had a non-vented fuel cap. It definitely wasn't stock and every time I opened it.....Swoosh! I assume all kinds of bad things can happen with that kind of pressure...

Re: Wheels

As far as one piece steel wheels go.... you can use a 16" [3/4 Ton] Dodge truck wheel up through '92 from my experience. I'd stay away from 16.5" wheels altogether, as tires are tough to find for them. You also have the option of a stock Dodge 17.5" & 19.5" wheel but they can be hard to come by. :2...

Wheels

Hello All.
I'm new to this and trying to find wheels that will fit my '66 D200.
Can anybody tell me the specs of what will work?
I currently have a mix matched set of wheels. None of them are original so they're probably not a good reference point.
Thanks in advance!

Re: If you haven't replaced your leaf spring bushings

Just curious if that may be my steering problem? I just picked up a '66 D200 and the front end needs help. Every time I hit a bump it'll pull. Sometimes left, sometimes right. The problem is, I don't know which way. It makes for an adventurous drive down small country roads! It's not safe and I real...

Re: No Headlights

Update.
I stomped on the dimmer switch about a hundred times and now the headlights are working fine.
Being that this truck sat on a farm not running for 25+ years, it's no surprise she needs a lot of TLC.
I bought a new switch and will install it in this weekend.

Re: New Speedo Cable

With the help of my wife, I was able to replace the cable and put a drop of oil in the speedo. The only challenge was removing the bolts that held the shroud around the stick shift. 50 years of road grime build up and the clips that hold the nuts from underneath failed, so the bolts were just spinni...

Re: New Speedo Cable

Well...... I pulled the cable out of its housing. It was dry as a bone and a bit of rusty red. As recommended from another forum. I sprayed some wd40 white lithium grease down into the housing. The cable went right back in, almost. It's about 4 inches from going in all the way. I'm going to pull it ...
