Re: Vacuum Hose routing diagram 1971

Ok so everything is pretty figured out BUT I ran into this glitch. the port for the line from the distributor....well......exists but doesnt have a port to attach the line. How can I put one in OR can I just run that tube disconnected and cap it? Sorry about the million questions, I'm a body work/sh...

Re: Vacuum Hose routing diagram 1971

Awesome, thanks for the intel but I'm more of a visual guy sorry. Heres the carb in question. I'm guessing the big rear outlet goes to the PCV valve on the valve cover. Most of the "emissions" stuff is gone so I"m working with what I see. Theres dual tips on the air box and one that goes on the air-...

Vacuum Hose routing diagram 1971

Morning guys, Does anyone have a vacuum hose diagram for a 2bbl 318 from 1971? When I bought it everything was EVERYWHERE in the case of the hoses. Just rebuilt my carb and would like to atleast get the important ones routed correctly. Some items are missing but something is better than nothing. Tha...

1971 D100 318>NV3500 upgrade

Need to pick your collective gray matter Gents. So I picked up a 1998 Ram half ton 2wd with a 5.2 liter and the DDC NV 3500 5 speed for free. Usual interrogation of the owner when getting a free truck went well. Single owner old man bought it new and recently put a new clutch in about four thousand ...

Steering box question (1971)

So out of curiosity, because my steering is extremely labor intensive, I've been going through every piece of the steering mechanism. Kingpins are in the cards right now and most joints except for the drag link have been replaced. So I cracked open the steering box fill nut and checked the insides, ...

Re: Steering wheel/horn contact

What year was this diagram for? So far, if memory serves me right (sucks not having the truck in front of me, and I've only gone as deep as the shifter housing) I'm missing a snap ring near the plate and the switch. I'm REALLY curious, because I have not gotten that far, about those two round pieces...

Re: Steering wheel/horn contact

I've got 8, 7, 5. From that point on its the bearing and two bolts and nuts holding the shifter sleeve. Given I haven't really torn apart any deeper but hopefully I can do the same diagram you did and see if the masses can notice something missing. Have to call Bud Thorpe when I can to further discu...

Re: Steering wheel/horn contact

You mean the three that hold the harness/switch down? I only saw one snap ring though. Not home until Saturday day so photos are limited. It just seems like the steering wheel needs to go farther in or the entire assembly housing for the three on the tree and turn signal needs to come up. I've actua...

Re: Steering wheel/horn contact

Oh ok. I was messing with that bearing setup today. Actually though of cleaning and regreasing it. I just sent the truck out to get the exhaust put on, but when it comes back I'll take some photos. There was a c-shaped clip that goes into a groove on the shaft itself. Wonder if that's the part you'r...

Steering wheel/horn contact

Ok, so I searched the forums and try to find something similar but to no avail. Here's my situation: I installed some air horns that run off a compressor. The compressor goes to a relay that takes the stock wires. I've chased everything back to the steering column. If I'm not mistaken the roller on ...

Re: Wiper arm removal issue

Place the arm over the threaded portion. Grasping the arm in the palm of your hand use the splined portion to pry against slightly. Your thumb will be against the nut pushing down while you pull up on the arm to flatten it out. This should give enough to start the nut. Don't hulk out or you'll have...

Wiper arm removal issue

So I removed my wipers to take the cowling off, cleaning out the dumpster of 40 year old crap in the trough. Is there a trick to put them back on? Here's my issue: 1)Swing arm portion had the tension strength of Stallone in Over The Top. Bear to flex to install AND turn the nut. 2) The nuts (both) b...

Re: D600 body panels

This is the monster in question. Note the fender is pretty much cheesecloth. Reportedly the front end was custom-built by a separate company (Shuttle Corp.) judging by the narrow width track for railroad work. I was told it has a napco axle and a new process transfer case with PTO. Onboard compresso...

D600 body panels

So as if one 71 wasn't enough, I found this ex railroad company W600 locally. Damn solid mechanically but fenders are razor thin cheese grater quality rust sheets. I can fab up the front drop panel but are there any aftermarket fender panels? Can I use any other quarters? D100 etc?

Re: Hellcat wheel set on a 71 D100

It does, thank you. I mean the 115mm is a miniscule difference from the 4.25. Now the offset and width come into play.

Re: Hellcat wheel set on a 71 D100

And I thought the 9 inch part would have been the lightning rod for comments. Trying to get the seller to swing by and mount one of them up. By 4.5ish I meant the rims are 115mm and that translates to 4.52674 or something like that.
