Re: Full Time 4x4 Hubs 70 PW

:clap My guess it this might have been a forest service truck but I have no way of knowing That is a legitimate guess. Have you scraped down to see if it has the original paint? If you are going to drive that on pavement, you'll need a set of hubs. I had Warns on my '69, but the good news for you is...

Re: Full Time 4x4 Hubs 70 PW

It had the HD dana 44 with the 7 in closed knuckles, but no locking hubs. It has full time 4wd hubs on it. Curious! I'm guessing it might have been a truck meant never to run on asphalt. If it sat a long time the ring gear could have some rust. I'd be tempted to pull the cover, change the oil, and ...

Full Time 4x4 Hubs 70 PW

So I recently bought a beater of a 70 w200. Some odd options and it has the special order tag. Total parts rig but I saw something interesting. It had the HD dana 44 with the 7 in closed knuckles, but no locking hubs. It has full time 4wd hubs on it. The truck ran and drove, slipped into 4h and 4L a...

Well the Dana 60 really hasn't changed much over the years, but I really have no idea. All you can do is measure and try, keep us in the loop

Re: Oil pan help

This era of truck always had a front sump pan from the factory. How do you know the 383 isn't original to the truck? They didn't have the VIN on them. In trucks they were used 67-71, so not many years. I know it's not original because my truck was built in September of 69, the motor wasn't built ti...

Re: Oil pan help

Yes it's a front sump, as far as the dip stick goes I'm not sure either the truck was kind of jacked up when I got it so there's a lot of unknowns as far as what's original. This is my first car so I don't have a enough knowledge to know

Oil pan help

So I have a 70 d200 with a 383. That motor isn't matching numbers but the truck origanily came with one. The number on the oil pan is 187. My service manual says the motor should hold 7 quarts, but the dipstick says it's full at 4. Do I have the correct oil pan?

Re: D200 383 header choices?

For anyone who's still looking, go with hookers. My dad bought a pair for his first sweptline in the 70's and he keeped them all these years so know they're going on my first sweptline. I looked the other day and they still make them, they run about $750

Re: 4 speed manual tranny

These transmissions are pretty bullet proof. Unless you jam your gears because your clutch is out they're fine, and with a slant 6 it should be good. I wouldn't if it's not leaking.

Original Bucket Seats

So my 70 originally had the standard bench seat, I'm looking at the optional bucket seats with center console, my question is, are the brackets for the seat the same or do I have to look for those too?

You will need a different flywheel for a 360, I think you could get away with a 318 flywheel on a 340.

Re: 2x4 to 4x4

Yes theyou are both 4.10 gearing, altho the rear end is a sure grip and the front end isn't, don't know if that makes a difference. But it's a 70 3/4 front end same as my truck. And yes the front end has the steering components, I'll have to look for the t-case shifter

2x4 to 4x4

I'm sure this conversation is out there and talked about already but here it is. I have a 70 d200 383 4 speed base model. I was originally planning on doing a pure restoration because it's a 1 of 1 special order truck, but I recently found out that I don't have to matching numbers motor so I figured...

3.54 rear end

One of these days I'll put the whole story of this truck up but until then here is my question. My truck is a 70 and has 3.54 gears for the rear end, and I've seen a few 3.55s, but no other 3.54s. So are 3.54 gears out there? Are they a common for a 3/4 ton?

Re: Radiator hoses 383

Are you asking for hoses for a 440? and not a 383?, I'm not sure these trucks ever came with a 440 originally. Like others have said, hoses for a 383 should be readily available. Alan I came across a 70 w200 a couple years back when I first wanted to get into one of these and the data plate said 44...
