Re: New '68 D200 w/440 owner
For the heater control depending on the type that you have in the truck you could have the one with the cable operated defrost, or the one with the manual opener down by the passengers feet. The heater inside is a simple ball valve which could be frozen so DO NOT PULL as hard as you can. You will br...

Re: This maybe a stupid question
I measured it out a while ago. It would fit in theory, however the track would be 3 (2 7/8) inches wider. Only downside would having to run the obnoxious 5 lug pattern that was for the inverted dually.

Re: Fast Idle issue
Also to find a vacuum leak use some combustible spray like carb cleaner, brake cleaner or something of the sort. spray around the base of the carb as well as the intake manifold. If you have a vacuum leak the rpm will increase then slowly back down to normal

Re: Fast Idle issue
It could be a vacuum leak however that would be also prevalent during idle even after the car is warmed up. Does the engine hunt in Rpms?

Re: 61 Wiring
What do you specifically need off of the turn signal wiring? I rewired my 51' Hudson. I went with a painless kit, a little expensive at 300 bucks, but does the job well. http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS-Performance-Products/555/10405/10002/-1?CAWELAID=1710724595&CAGPSPN=pla&CAAGID=39714413703&CATCI=aud-30...

Re: Unhooking speedo cable
Why not take the speedo-cable out of the gauge, if you can hear the noise inside the cab the likely culprit is a broken speedometer, or a broken cable. Plus this way you don't have to lay on the ground.

Re: Fast Idle issue
Sounds like the throttle is getting hung up in the carb, possibly the butterfly valve getting stuck, check your throttle return spring for excessive slack. One of the Weber DCOE 40's in my dads BMW 2002 has that issue, idles fast whack the throttle idle dies down to normal.

Re: Throwing out some ideas
I think that it would be a interesting build. I have a P7100 in my 12 valve. I saw moparmorrel's build and it was interesting, I was going to do the same thing if mine was ever totaled in the winter, I've been rear-ended a few times in my truck. College students aren't the best drivers in the world,...

This maybe a stupid question
Hello, All This past weekend I got a 440 and 727 short tail out of a 73' Winnebago Brave, for my 63' swepty. That being said I sent a lot of time looking at the front end of this motor home, and it go them thinking. The 73' frame is based on a dodge D350 apparently. And I have the front clip of a 50...

Re: Loss of power slant six
I figured out the issue the new fuel filter had collapsed sending crap into the carb causing all sorts of issues. The carb is pretty tired the throttle bushings are shot, and now with filter elements all over inside the carb, the truck will not run below 2000 rpms. I have just bought a holley 2300 t...

Loss of power slant six
Hi All, This past week I have been chasing an odd issue. A few weeks ago I put a MSD BTM6 on my truck as well as a pertronix electric ignition. The issue I was having with that was that the truck would be hard to start, I later found out the timing marks on the crank were not correct. 10 degrees BTC...

Re: Carb replacement
I second the Carter BBD they are a dime a dozen, I have three on hand as spare parts, and one that I am slowly converting to be a blow though turbo setup. Be leery of the shaft bushings as they will cause a vacuum leak, or boost leak if too badly worn.

Re: Temperature and Fuel Gauge woes
The gauge was operating as it should, however something was wrong with it. I replaced it with one I pulled out of a 64' and now the temp gauge stays right in the middle when I'm driving, if in traffic it creeps up. At the junk yard I got a brand new (no varnish, shiny metal) fuel sending unit, the f...

Temperature and Fuel Gauge woes
Months after putting in my fuel sending unit from a Valiant, (against your guys best wishes) I'm having issues with the temp gauge and fuel gauge working right 75 miles before the needle moves off Full. You can tell me you told me so. This weekend I was chasing down what I thought was over heating i...

Clutch adjustment
Hi All, I had a quick question about the clutch adjustment. I have adjusted the rod at the slave cylinder to have approximately 1/8 inch of travel before it engages the clutch fork. My only problem is that the adjustment went out when I was driving my truck. The engagement point was somewhere betwee...

Transmission parking brake shoe
Does anyone know of someone who is selling the parking brake or E-brake shoe for the rear of the transmission type? For clarification, it is the clamp styled type. Or is it something where I will have to find a shoe that has the same diameter, drill out the rivets, and re-rivet the new pad to the ol...
