Re: Edelbrock 60779 heads
The heads stick out about an inch more front and back than stock heads and, the square back sits right on top of the valve cover gasket surface.

Re: Edelbrock 60779 heads
As promised. I've gotten to the alternator install and it will not fit. I've ordered a PowerMaster 7018 alternator which is a dual field round back. The new nator boasts 95 amps in retro round back design. Pretty sure this will work but it will be a tight fit.

Re: '69 D200 - Wheel fitment and IFS questions
You'll be hard pressed to put a wheel of that size under the fender without scrubbing. I've got 15X9" on the rear with a 3.5 backspace. 275/60 15 tire. 11.00" of tread on the ground. The tire bulge clears the inner fender by.5 inch. You can definitely go bigger so long as you move the inner fender.

Re: 360 engine vibration
Most obviously the 360 harmonic balancer is thicker and has cast iron weight showing between the balancer and pulley unlike the 318 which is thin and smooth. The 360 flex plate will have a visible rectangular weight for the external balance whereas the 318, being internally balanced, will have no we...

Re: Transmission coolant lines
The only difference that I can think of is that on your typical car the lines go all the way to the radiator. On older cars, a lot don't.

Re: Engine paint ?
Blue - (No Mopar number) (Color code never appeared in manuals) Slightly darker than the standard blue used on the 70's LA engines. Paint also turned Turquoise with heat. Even Galen Govier does not have a spec for mixing. This paint was used on a lot of 340' and other LA engines in late 69. Most res...

Re: Engine paint ?
This color debate is kind of funny. I found this and thought what the hey. Mopar Engine Colors Through The Years Below are the Mopar numbers for the various engine paints used by Chrysler from the 1940s. Black - Mopar P4120753 1981-up 2.2L engines 1983-up 318 and 360 engines All production Jeep engi...

Re: Fuel Venting - Leaking
I wasn't willing to sacrifice the frame cross brace so I have started over with the 16-gallon tank. The 16-gallon tank doesn't require cutting anywhere and is almost a bolt in. You still have to make a frame to hold the tank but if you just wanted to slam it in you could probably mount it with Unist...

Re: Need a better fuel tank setup
I ended up using the 64 - 68 Mustang fuel injection gas tank. Build a frame to fit the tank, bolt the tank to the frame and the assembly to the truck frame no other mods needed plus, if you decide later to move to fuel injection the tank made for it is in place. The tank is made by Tanks Inc and is ...

Re: Rear underbed gas tank conversion
For anyone who is interested… The larger 22-gallon mustang gas tank will not fit in the same way without serious modification or removal of the frame cross brace. The 16-gallon tank is 7.5 " top to bottom and the 69-70 22 gallon tank is 9.75" top to bottom, two inches taller. The frame cross member ...

Re: Fuel Venting - Leaking
If your truck doesn't have holes in the B pillar then it probably didn't come with EEC and not all did. There have been multiple threads in this forum regarding fuel leaks and several of them were solved by replacing the faulty vented gas cap.

Re: Fuel Venting - Leaking
I have a 1971 D100. Tank leaked so I took it to a shop for repair and they destroyed it. Apparently, I live in the part of Ga where inbreeding isn't frowned upon. Point being I have all the EEC parts and no tank to attach them too. Currently in the process of installing a 68 Mustang 22 gallon fuel t...

Re: Fuel Venting - Leaking
Do you have any of the old parts? The metal vent line that runs from the drivers' side vent to the passenger side, bolts to the cab just above the tank. The metal vent line that passes through the cab floor. The vapor canister that mounts inside the cab. The vent line that attaches to the frame and ...

The choke pull-off hose is right. The un-used line connects to the thermal sensor at the bottom of the air cleaner housing. The large line typically attaches to the PVC.
