|Prior owner had truck since 1980; was sold Sep. 2013 at a large ag equipment sale. Buyer was a large, local scrap dealer. Truck wasn't in too bad of shape for a Midwest rust-belt vehicle. Typical cowl, inner floor rust that had been "fixed" with sheet metal and pop-rivets. I happened upon it while cruising record #1396 ('67 D100 8' swepty- A.K.A. "Dolly", I do dig BIG headlights!) The big D400's cab was in much better shape than the 100's, so I inquired about $$ to salvage the cab & some misc. After price was settled & upon further brainstorming, decided to see about $$ for whole truck with the intent to shorten frame 29" and create an 8' dump box 1.5 ton swepty, which is currently under way. The ol' Poly 318 dragged itself home (barely) with the only operational brake being the parking variety. Thank God I'm a country boy with gravel roads to get me to point "B" @ <10 MPH! Hopefully "Battering Ram" will be on the road before first snow. A plow is in the works.
